A BIGGER ENEMY THAN HIS

There are a couple of observations that are clear about the Supreme Court nomination fight over Brett Kavanaugh. The first is that the liberal democrats are not really after Kavanaugh, they are targeting President Trump. They have largely failed to cause any significant damage to the President or hinder his agenda in any significant way. So Kavanaugh becomes collateral damage in their fight with their real enemy.

Another observation is that the liberal democrats are relentless. They began an all out battle at the very moment that President Trump nominated Mr. Kavanaugh and they have not let up even a little. They will fight it all the way until the vote is cast. And if they should lose that vote, don't think for a moment they will stop the attack. They will try someway to keep fighting, you can be sure.

My purpose in writing this is not to discuss the political issues involved. I am not concerned, in this post, with the motives or character of any of the participants in this nomination. This post is not evaluating at all, who is right on the issues involved or who is acting with honor or without it. I merely want to use this battle to illustrate a far more important attack that you may not have noticed.

Judge Kavanaugh has is enemies, but you have a far more powerful and relentless enemy. The Bible reveals who this enemy is, in a passage found in the book of I Peter chapter five and verse eight.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

There are many ways the devil tries to destroy your life, but one of them is through accusation. The word, devil, actually means "slanderer", or "false accuser", that is the definition. The Bible actually includes an account of Satan making accusations about someone to God. Job 1:9-11

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

I am not saying that those accusing Brett Kavanaugh are evil like the devil is evil. My point in this article is not even to comment on whether their accusations are right or wrong. What I want you to see how determined your real enemy, the Devil, is.

As your accuser, the Devil is relentless. He will not give up, he will not stop looking for dirt - ever. Most likely, he has all of the dirt on you already. He is a spirit who doesn't sleep, doesn't eat, doesn't need votes and doesn't care how he will look in the polls. Satan simply will not give up. He hasen't let up for thousands of years and he's not about to start now. He can and will attack at all hours of the day or night. Day after day, night aftter night, week after week, month after month, year after year, the devil will constantly be pointing the finger and dragging up your past. When the circus of Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation is a dust page in the history books and the democrats have long moved on to some other topic, Satan will still be leveling charge after charge against you.

The reason for Satan's untiring effort is similar to the democrats, he is not really after you. Satan's goal is more than just preventing a president from serving another term, he wants overthrow God Himself.

Isaiah 14:1314 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

It is a very ambitious goal, and Satan is all in. He will not hesitate for a nanosecond to destroy your soul in his quest to destroy God.

The horror of this whole situation, however, is that while Brett Kavanaugh may be innocent of the charges, you are not. God Himself knows that when the Devil accuses us of our crimes, we are guilty.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Read what God says in Romans 3:10-19:

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

The stakes are much higher than losing a prestigious position. What we risk is losing is our soul.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Isaiah 33:14 The sinners . . . are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

Can you? Can you live with fire that will never be put out? Satan absolutely will not stop until you are there . . .

or until someone stops him.

That is where the good news comes in. Unlike the Republicans who seem unwilling or unable to stop this incessant attack against Brett Kavanaugh, God is able and willing to stop Satan's attack against you. Take a moment to look at what is probably the most familiar verse in the whole Bible:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God is not only able, but willing to protect you from the onslaught of the Devil. God was willing to punish Jesus Christ, His perfect son, to satisfy the punishment that you and I deserve.

II Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

God took away the accusations Satan uses by punishing Jesus Christ for them. Justice has been satisfied. If you are willing to believe in Christ, as John 3:16 states, you won't die for your sin. You will receive life that genuinely does not end. Believing involves two parts. The first is accepting what God says as true. That includes admitting that you have committed crimes against Him and deserve to be thrown into the lake of fire. It includes accepting that Jesus paid that price for you and that God accepted His sacrifice. The second part includes trusting God enough to ask Him for forgiveness and to give you eternal life through Jesus Christ. The Bible puts it this way:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed . . . 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:9-11, 13)

How about it? Have you accepted this gift? If not, why not do it right now? If you have questions, I would be glad to discuss them with you. Simply email me at yourbibleresearcher@gmail.com. Don't face this enemy alone. Let God protect you from destruction.
